In 1981, Donald L. Modie donated 6.8 acres to Lewiston to create Ruth Rowell Modie Wildlife Park in honor of his wife.
In 1992, Lewiston’s Urban Forestry Commission and Parks and Recreation Commission endorsed the concept of a of non profit citizens group working with the City to plan, develop and maintain Ruth Rowell Modie Wildlife Park. Modie Park Conservancy, a 501 (3) c non-profit group, was organized and signed a joint development with Lewiston in 1996.
Volunteers and city crews have worked to define the dream of a wildlife park, create a plan, and begin building that plan. There is still much to do.
